K-EDGE FILTERS

1. Rarely used except in mammography.
2. Are materials with K-edges in the higher part of the X-ray spectrum.
3. Remove both high & low energy photons but are transparent to photons just below the K-edge.
4. An example is erbium (Z = 68).
