ATTENUATION

Physics

ATTENUATION

1. Attenuation is a reduction in beam intensity due to the photons interacting with matter.

2. Depends on photon energy, material’s atomic number & density.

3. Due mainly to Compton scattering (at 75 keV tube voltage, this is predominant) and photoelectric effect.
