GAMMA CAMERA-COMPONENTS

1. The gamma camera is surrounded by heavy lead shielding to prevent interference.

COMPONENTS
2. Collimator - used to determine the point of emission of the photon.

3. Crystal - converts gamma-ray photons into optical photons.

4. Photomultipliers - converts the optical photon to an electrical signal pulse & amplifies it.

5. Pulse logic - Combines the pulses received from the photomultipliers and generates (based on in-built equations) three voltage pulses: X, Y and Z.

6. Pulse height analyser - only lets through pulses whose energy lies ± 10% of the photopeak, rejecting those within the Compton tail.
