EFFECTIVE DOSE

Physics

EFFECTIVE DOSE

1. (where ω T = tissue weighting factor).

2. Takes into account the variation in the radiosensitivity of different tissues.

3. Unit is the sievert (Sv) which is measured in J / Kg.

4. Directly related to risk to the person irradiated.

5. Based on evidence from animal models, Monte Carlo simulations & radiation-accidents.

6. KERMA determines => Absorbed Dose determines => Equivalent Dose determines => Effective Dose.
