CT-ITERATIVE RECONSTRUCTION ADVANTAGES

1. It is recognized that iterative algorithms can model many of the physical parameters that filtered backprojection cannot, such as the x-ray spectrum, the blurring of the focal spot, etc.

2. Therefore, in principle, iterative algorithms can make better use of the acquired data—they can produce images with higher SNR at the same dose, or they can produce images of similar SNR at lower doses.
