CT DETECTOR-TYPES

1. All new scanners use solid state detectors.

2. Convert X-rays into light, then light into electrical signals.

3. Consist of a scintillant (e.g. bismuth germinate) and embedded photodiode to detect output.

4. Very high detection efficiency (~98%).
