X-RAY PRODUCTION

Physics

X-RAY PRODUCTION

1. X-ray spectrum produced by Bremsstrahlung radiation + Characteristic radiation.
2. A substantial amount of the lower energy photons are absorbed/filtered by the target, the tube and other materials and produce a low-energy cut-off at about 20 keV.
3. The high level cut-off depends only on the kV.
4. The area under the curve represents the beam intensity (total number of photons).
5. The efficiency of X-ray production increases with the kV.
