ULTRASOUND-SLICE THICKNESS RESOLUTION

1. Resolution - the ability to discriminate between 2 points that are close to each other.

2. Slice thickness resolution - the ability to differentiate two reflectors at the same depth in different scan planes.

3. Dictates the thickness of the section of tissue that contributes to echoes on the image.

4. Increased by focusing the beam.
