ULTRASOUND-LATERAL RESOLUTION

1. Resolution - the ability to discriminate between 2 points that are close to each other.

2. Lateral resolution - the ability to differentiate two reflectors side by side at the same depth in the same scan plane.

3. For high lateral resolution: focus the beam AND/OR increase number of scan lines.
