MRI 3-PRE-POLARIZING MAGNETIC PULSE

1. Normally, the alignment of our proton magnets is random (they are at thermal equilibrium).
2. When placed inside a strong external magnetic field (B 0 ), the proton’s magnetic field lines up in one of two orientations - parallel with the direction of B 0 (spin-up), anti-parallel to B 0 (spin-down).
3. How many more protons align spin-up depends on the strength of B 0
