1. The proportion of protons in high energy vs low energy state.

2. Described by the Boltzmann factor: $\LARGE&space;e^{-\frac{\gamma&space;B_{0}h}{K_{b}T}}$ (where T = thermal energy, γ = magnetic energy).

3. At thermal equilibrium protons can be naturally in both energy states, however there is a slight preponderence of protons being in the lower energy state.
