PLANTAR FASCITIS

1. Four plantar foot muscles take their origin from the volar calcaneus: adductor hallucis, quadratus plantae, flexor digitorum brevis, and abductor digiti minimi.

2. Overload of these muscles can cause enthesitis & pain at the calcaneus, worse with the first few steps in the morning.

3. May be A/W calcaneal traction spur.

4. Management - resting night-splint, treatmnent of predisposing kinetic chain abnormalities, TA/TP exercises to strengthen the medial longitudinal arch.
