CAUSES OF LIMB PAIN

1. Polymyositis - aching shoulders and hips + proximal weakness.
2. Polymyalgia rheumatica - aching shoulders and hips + age > 50yrs.
3. Inflammatory diseases.
4. Bone diseases - pain exacerbated by weight-bearing.
5. Vascular disease - pain + palor + pulselessness + paraesthesia.
6. Spinal canal stenosis - neurogenic claudication.
7. Nerve entrapment - pain + paraesthesia + weakness. Caused by synovial thickening, joint subluxation.
8. Causalgia - injury to peripheral nerves causing vasomotor changes + limb pain.
