SYSTEMIC SCLEROSIS-DIFFUSE & LIMITED

1. Diffuse SSC is more likely than limited SSC to have multi-organ involvement, A/W anti-Scl-70 & anti-RNA polymerase III Ab.

2. Limited SSC causes skin thickening distal to the elbows and knees and can affect the face and neck & affects internal organs.

3. Limited SSC causes CREST syndrome: Calcinosis; Raynaud phenomenon; Esophageal dysmotility; Sclerodactyly; Telangiectasias.

4. Diffuse SSC complications - ILD and renal crisis.

5. Limited SSC complications - pulmonary HTN (not ILD!)
