ASIA IMPAIRMENT DESCRIPTIONS

1. Tetraplegia = impairment of the arms + trunk + legs + pelvic organs.
2. Paraplegia = impairment of the thoracic, lumbar or sacral segments of the spinal cord.
3. None of these pertain to plexopathies or peripheral nerve injuries outside the neural canal.
4. The zone of partial preservation (ZPP) was defined as the levels below NLI with sensory preservation and only used for ASIA A injuries.
