CAUSES OF VERTIGO

1. Labyrinthine (canalicular) lesions - BPPV, motion sickness, acute labyrinthitis, streptomycin toxicity, Menier's disease.
2. Vestibular lesions - vestibular neuronitis, many of the causes of nerve deafness.
3. Brainstem lesions - tumors of the cerebellum and IV ventricle, demyelination (MS), migraine, vascular lesions.
4. Temporal lobe lesions - complex partial seizures, ischaemia.
