SPASTICITY-LOCAL INTERVENTIONS

1. Diagnostic nerve blocks: local anaesthetic (Lidocaine/Bupivacaine) injected into the perineurium under electro-stimulation guidance; for planning, assessment of benefit and of the functional utility of spasticity.

2. Chemoneurolysis: using phenol/ethyl alcohol to disrupt fibers within nerve trunks (mixed nerve/motor nerve block/motor point block). Complications: dysaesthesia, pain, injection site reaction.

3. Chemodenervation: with botulinum type A toxin.
