SPASTICITY-BOTULINUM TOXIN SIDE EFFECTS

1. Hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis. Flu-like syndrome.
2. Skin injection site reaction.
3. Myalgia, visual/hearing disturbance, vasovagal response.
4. If injected into blood vessels - generalized muscle paralysis, cardiovascular (including MI, arrhythmia), dyspnea, fever, seizure.
5. Effect on nerves - neuropathy, radiculopathy, facial paralysis.
6. Use with pre-existing NMJ diseases (MG, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS) may lead to lifethreatening respiratory depression and dysphagia.
