NCS-NEEDLE EMG POTENTIALS (2)

6. Complex repetitive discharge (CRD): sustained, rhythmic discharges of muscle fibers seen in chronic neuropathies/myopathies.

7. Fasciculation potentials: spontaneous discharge of an entire motor unit or large part of it. Causes: benign, thyrotoxicosis, anti-cholinesterase use, radiculopathy, MND.

8. Myokymia: grouped fasciculations seen in the face or limbs. Facial myokymia is seen in MS, pontine gliomas. Limb myokymias are seen in radiation plexopathy, compression radiculopathies and compression neuropathies.

9. Myotonia: discharge that originates from single muscle fibers due to abnormal chloride conductance. Seen in myotonic dystorphy.
