NCS-ELECTRODIAGNOSTIC STUDIES

1. Sensory nerve action potentials (SNAP) & compound nerve action potentials (CNAP): both involve electrical stimulation of nerves and recording of the synchronized discharge of axons within the nerve at some distance from the point of stimulation.

2. Compound muscle action potentials (CMAP): involve electrical stimulation of the nerve and recording of the synchronized discharge of muscle fibers supplied by the nerve.

3. Motor unit action potential (MUAP): potential recorded when an individual voluntarily contracts & activates a motor unit.
