Neurology

MYASTHENIA GRAVIS-MANAGEMENT

1. Anticholinesterase agents (e.g., pyridostigmine)

2. Immunomodulators in patients uncontrolled on pyridostigmine (e.g., steroids, cyclosporine, mycophenolate)

3. IVIG or plasmapheresis (for myasthenic crisis only because duration of action is very short)

4. Thymectomy (takes years to see effects, but definitely perform in patients with thymoma) improves long-term prognosis.
