MARCUS GUNN PUPILLARY SIGN

1. Also termed RELATIVE AFFERENT PUPILLARY DEFFECT (RAPD).
2. If an eye has optic atrophy or severely reduced visual acuity, the affected pupil will dilate paradoxically if light is moved away from the normal eye to the abnormal eye.
3. This occurs due to an intact consensual response from the normal eye and diminshed afferent response in the abnormal eye.
