SYSTEMIC INFLAMMATORY RESPONSE SYNDROME (SIRS)

SIRS is a measurement of the body's physiologic response to an undefined insult (infectious or not), requires 2 or more of the following:
1. Temperature < 36° C or > 38° C
2. Tachycardia (HR > 90)
3. Tachypnea (RR > 20 or pC02 < 32)
4. WBC abnormal (> 12K or < 4K or > 10% bands)
