COLON CANCER-SCREENING

Screening for asymptomatic adults > 50 years of age with a negative family history for colon cancer or adenomatous polyps:
1. Colonoscopy every 10 years
2. Flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years
3. FOBT yearly
4. CT colonography every 5 years

Colonoscopy is the screening procedure of choice in patients with any 1st degree relatives with either colon cancer or an adenomatous polyp.
