COLON CANCER-COLONOSCOPY

The 2008 American Cancer Society (ACS) guidelines:
1. Patients with 1-2 small tubular adenomas with low-grade dysplasia: repeat colonoscopy 5-10 years after initial polypectomy.
2. Patients with 3-10 adenomas, or 1 adenoma > I cm, or any adenoma with villous features or high-grade dysplasia: repeat colonoscopy in 3 years.
3. Patients with > 10 adenomas: repeat colonoscopy < 3 years.
4. Patients with sessile adenomas that are removed piecemeal require repeat colonoscopy in 2-6 months to verify complete removal.
