1. AGI delay carbohydrate absorption in the gut.

2. Representatives: acarbose and miglitol.

3. Biggest effect is on post-prandial glucose.

4. Common side effects: flatulence, diarrhea, abdominal bloating.

5. AGls are approved for monotherapy and in combination with sulfonylureas (glipizide).
