CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY

1. Angiography is the gold standard for the diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD); ventriculograms and aortic root angiography can be done at the same time.

2. Can assess coronary anatomy through contrast ventriculography, EF, wall motion abnormalities, ventricular dilatation, degree of MR, & the presence of a ventricular aneurysm.

3. Invasive procedure with - I% risk of serious complications (death, MI, stroke, arrhythmia, renal failure, bleeding).
