CARDIAC STRESS TESTS-CONTRAINDICATIONS

1. Patients unable to exercise sufficiently (must achieve 85% of age-predicted maximum heart rate)
2. Patients with baseline ECG abnormalities that can interfere with interpretation (LVH, LBBB, WPW, ST depression, ventricular pacing), or taking digoxin
3. Acute MI within 2 days
4. Unstable angina not previously stabilized by medical therapy
5. Uncontrolled arrhythmias causing symptoms or hemodynamic compromise
6. Symptomatic severe aortic stenosis
7. Uncontrolled symptomatic heart failure
8. Acute pulmonary embolus or infarction
9. Acute myocarditis or pericarditis
10. Acute aortic dissection
