ARRHYTHMIAS-POLYMORPHIC VT

Cardiology

ARRHYTHMIAS-POLYMORPHIC VT

1. Polymorphic VT generally has irregular ventricular rate and displays polymorphic QRS morphology.

2. QRS complexes appear to twist around an isoelectric axis.

3. Duration of polymorphic VT is typically brief; however, it can be sustained and can degenerate into V-fib.

4. It can occur in patients with prolonged QT interval (torsades de pointes) or in patients with normal QT interval (typically in the setting of ischemia/M1).
