ORIGIN & COURSE-LEFT
1. Arises from aortic arch behind left CCA and passes upwards together.
2. Arches over and grooves the apex of left lung.
3. Leaves the CCA behind SCJ, no branches in mediastinum.
4. Passes up above clavicle, behind scalenus anterior, across lateral border of 1st rib where it becomes axillary a.

ORIGIN & COURSE-RIGHT
5. Arises from right BCT at its termination behind right SCJ.
6. Passes up above clavicle, behind scalenus anterior, across lateral border of 1st rib where it becomes axillary a.
