LUNGS-BRONCHOPULMONARY SEGMENTS

BOYDEN CLASSIFICATION
1. Right upper lobe arranged like a triangle in the sagittal plane => right middle lobe is divided into 2 halves in the coronal plane => right lower lobe arranged into a pyramid in an oblique plane.
- Right upper lobe: apical, posterior, anterior segments.
- Right middle lobe: medial, lateral segments.
- Right lower lobe: superior, anterior, medial, lateral, posterior segments.

2. Left upper lobe also arranged like a triangle in the sagittal plane with the apical + posterior segments fused; left anterior + medial segments fused.
- Left upper lobe: apico+posterior, anterior segments.
- Left lingular lobe: superior lingular, inferior lingular segments.
- Left lower lobe: superior, antero+medial, lateral, posterior segments.
