HEART-LEFT ATRIUM

RELATIONS
1. Forms the base of the heart + forms the anterior wall of the oblique sinus.
2. Has a small auricle that projects from its upper border, 4 pulmonary veins enter it symmetrically.

WALLS
3. The cavity is smooth walled except at the auricle.

ENTRY
4. Blood enters from the pulmonary circulation through the pulmonary veins.

EXIT
5. Blood passes into the left ventricle through the mitral valve.
6. The bicuspid mitral valve has anterior + posterior cusps.
7. The anterior cusp is attached b/w the mitral + aortic orifices.
