SACRAL CANAL

1. Triangular in cross-section, closed in front and behind.
2. The lateral exits are blocked and must be circumvented via the 4 anterior + posterior sacral foramina.
3. S5 foramen is formed by the cornua of the sacrum + coccyx.
4. Dura extends down to S2.
5. The sacral nerve roots unite distal to the DRG, which are located within the intervertebral foramina, b/w the pedicles.
6. The filum terminale runs down to blend with the periosteum at the back of the coccyx.
