PTERYGOPALATINE GANGLION-ROOTS

1. PARASYMPATHETIC - pre-ganglionic parasympathetic fibres (via the nerve of the pterygoid canal, arriving via the greater pterosal nerve) from the superior salivary nucleus relay in the ganglion.

2. SYMPATHETIC - post-ganglionic sympathetic fibres from the superior cervical ganglion (via the deep pterosal nerve) pass through and do not relay here.

3. SENSORY - branch of the maxillary nerve, passes through the ciliary ganglion without relay to the trigeminal ganglion.
