OTIC GANGLION-ROOTS

1. PARASYMPATHETIC - fibers from the inferior salivary nucleus (via the IX nerve) relay in the ganglion.

2. SYMPATHETIC - fibers from the superior cervical ganglion pass through the ganglion without relay.

3. SENSORY - from the parotid gland via the auriculo-temporal nerve to the trigeminal ganglion.

4. SOMATIC MOTOR ROOT - the otic ganglion has additional somatic motor roots from the nerve to the medial pterygoid which supply the tensor tympani & palati.
