9D) CN IX (GLOSSOPHARYNGEAL)-BRANCHES

1. Tympanic branch - middle ear, mastoid, bony part of the auditory tube. Secreto-motor to the parotid.
2. Nerve to the stylopharyngeus.
3. Carotid sinus nerve - supplies the carotid sinus baroreceptors & carotid body chemoreceptors.
4. Pharyngeal branches - common sensation from the oropharynx, parasympathetic (from inferior salivary nucleus) & taste to the mucous and serous glands of the oropharynx.
5. Tonsilar branch - mucous membrane of the palatine tonsil.
6. Lingual branch - supplies the posterior 1/3 of the tongue with sensation and secretomotor fibres.
7. Meningeal branch - posterior fossa meninges.
