SCALENUS ANTERIOR

1. O: anterior tubercles of the C3-6.
2. I: scalene tubercle on the upper surface + inner border of the first rib.
3. Covered by the prevertebral fascia.
4. NS: anterior rami of C4, 5, 6.
5. A: assists in flexion, rotation of the neck, also important as an accessory muscle of respiration.
