MUSCLES-SCALENI GROUP (LATERAL NECK)

2. SCALENUS MEDIUS - arises form the posterior tubercles of C1-7 and is inserted into the quadrangular area b/w the neck & subclavian groove of first rib. Supplied by anterior rami of C3-8. Lateral flexor of neck + accessory muscle of respiration.

3. SCALENUS POSTERIOR - arises from the posterior tubercles of the the lower cervical vertebrae, passes across the outer border of the first rib to be inserted to the outer border of the second rib, behind the SERRATUS ANTERIOR attachment. Supplied by anterior rami of C6-8. Lateral flexor of neck + accessory muscle of respiration.
