FOOT ARCH-MEDIAL ARCH

1. The medial arch is the higher of the two longitudinal arches.

2. It is formed by the calcaneus, talus, navicular, three cuneiforms and first three metatarsal bones.

3. Muscular support : tibialis anterior and posterior, peroneus longus, FDL, flexor hallucis, and the intrinsic foot muscles.

4. Ligamentous support : plantar ligaments (long & short plantar and plantar calcaneonavicular ligaments), medial ligament of the ankle joint.

5. Bony support : shape of the bones of the arch.

6. Other : plantar aponeurosis.
