FOOT ARCH-LATERAL ARCH

1. The lateral arch is the flatter of the two longitudinal arches, and lies on the ground in the standing position.

2. It is formed by the calcaneus, cuboid and 4th and 5th metatarsal bones.

3. Muscular support : peroneus longus, FDL, and the intrinsic foot muscles.

4. Ligamentous support : plantar ligaments (long plantar, short plantar and plantar calcaneonavicular ligaments).

5. Bony support : shape of the bones of the arch.

6. Other : plantar aponeurosis.
