SPHENOID BONE

1. The sphenoid possesses an anterior lesser wing, greater wing, body and pterygoid processes.

2. The greater wing of the sphenoid + pterygoid process projects from a common junction at the lower part of the body.

3. The pterygoid canal perforates the root of the lateral pterygoid plate. It is lower + medial to the foramen rotundum.
