EXTERNAL NOSE

1. The anterior (piriform) aperture is bounded above by the nasal bones + elsewhere by the two maxillae.

2. The external nose is formed by nasal bones (bridge of nose), lateral (upper) and greater (alar or lower) nasal cartilages and supported in the midline by the nasal septum.

3. The muco-cutaneous area lies beyond the hair-bearing area.

4. Skin supplied by external nasal nerve (opthalmic division of trigeminal nerve).

5. Blood supply is by the dorsal nasal artery (terminal branch of the opthalmic a.) + lateral nasal a. + septal branches of the facial a. + labial branches of the facial a.
