PAROTID GLAND

1. Serous salivary gland.
2. Fills the gap b/w the mastoid process, ramus of mandible, styloid process.
3. Has upper + lower poles. Three surfaces - lateral, anterior, deep.
4. Surrounded by the parotid sheath.
5. Embedded within the gland are facial nerve, retromandibular vein and ECA (with its 2 terminal branches), in that order from superficial to deep.
