NASAL CAVITY-LATERAL WALL & OPENINGS

1. 3 nasal conchae project down like scrolls from the lateral wall.
2. The upper and middle conchae are joined anteriorly but diverge posteriorly.
3. Beneath the free inferior border of each concha is a space called superior, middle and inferior meatus respectively.

OPENINGS
4. Above the superior concha is the sphenoethmoidal recess. The sphenoidal sinus opens into this recess.
5. Superior meatus - posterior ethmoidal air cells open into this recess.
6. Middle meatus - anterior ethmoid air cells, frontal, maxillary sinuses open into this recess. Immediately behind the middle concha is the sphenopalatine foramen.
7. Inferior meatus - nasolacrimal duct opens into this recess.
