CARTILAGE-SECONDARY CARTILAGE

1. Cartilage that developes in growing membrane bones (head of the mandible & ends of the clavicle).

2. Different from hyaline cartilage - larger cells, more tightly packed and matrix is more fibrous.

3. It provides a cartilage surface for membranous bones that would otherwise have no cartilagenous ends.
