SNS-SYMPATHETIC FIBRES

Anatomy-General

SNS-SYMPATHETIC FIBRES

1. From the BOS to the coccyx the sympathetic trunk lies anterior to the arterial circle, which lies anterior to the spinal circle.

2. Every spinal nerve carries un-myelinated, post-ganglionic, sympathetic fibres (group C/grey rami).

3. Only T1-L2 contain pre-ganglionic myelinated fibres (Group B/white rami).

3. These fibres leave the spinal nerves at the site of their destination.

4. Functions (somatic branches assist in temperature regulation): vasoconscritor to blood vessels, sudo-motor to sweat glands, pilo-motor to hair roots.
