SKELETAL MUSCLES-PATTERNS

Muscles that whose fibers lie oblique to the line of pull have several patterns (oblique fibers do not shorten as much, but generate significant force):

1. Unipennate - tendon forms along one side, with muscle fibers sloping into it from one side.

2. Bipennate - tendon forms centrally, with muscle fibers sloping into it from both sides.

3. Multipennate - tendon forms centrally, with muscle fibers sloping into it from all sides.
