SKELETAL MUSCLE

1. Non-branching fibers bound together by loose aerolar tissue (epimysium) which contains fibroblasts & macrophages.

2. Red fibers - slow twitch, higher content of mitochondria, myoglobin & oxidative enzymes.

3. White fibers - fast twitch.

4. Each individual skeletal muscle fibre receives its own motor nerve fibre.

5. Embeded within skeletal muscles are muscle spindles.

6. Muscle fibers can be arranged in parallel or oblique to the line of pull.
