Anatomy-Abdomen

PERITONEUM

1. Parietal peritoneum - serous membrane that lines the abdominal cavity.
2. Visceral periotoneum - invests the viscera.
3. The peritoneum consists of a single layer of mesothelium overlying aerolar tissue (which can be of varying thickness).
4. Various folds/reflections connect viscera to the abdominal wall or one another - called folds, mesentery or ligaments.
