PANCREAS

1. The pancreas is a retroperitoneal organ, has both endocrine and exocrine functions.
2. Functions: production of hormones (insulin, glucagon and somatostatin), digestion by production & secretion of pancreatic juice.
3. Most of the gland lies in the supracolic compartment.
